DO THE WORK

"But as for you, be sober-minded in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." 2 Timothy 4:5
🔎Reflection: There is no category of "non-evangelist" in the kingdom. In 2 Tim 4, Paul doesn't tell Timothy to share his personal testimony. He doesn’t tell him to be more religious. He doesn’t tell him to join a Bible study or get to church more often. He doesn’t even say, “Consider doing the work.” Instead, Paul commands it. Paul reminds the Ephesian church in Ephesians 4:11-12 that leaders equip the saints for works of ministry. And as Proverbs 1:7 reveals, the WORD of God, which all points to who Jesus is, is the GENESIS of everything, including evangelism.
Jesus’ commission in Matthew 28:19 was not to professional clergy, but to His friends. The Greek word "ministry" (διακονία) means "service." Fulfilling our ministry isn’t optional; it’s the WHOLE reason we're still breathing. The Apostle Paul said it like this, “For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain!” As Revelation 3 warns, the church that appears alive with all its staff, budgets, busywork, activity, programs, and productions, but bears no GOSPEL fruit, is dead. This isn’t about guilt or condemnation—it’s about conviction in obedience born of love from the truth of the GOSPEL.
🤺Action: Take your role in the Great Commission seriously. Engage in evangelism today. Set a daily goal of finding a way to share the GOSPEL (who Jesus is). There’s no special strategy or program needed. In 2 Tim 2:8, the Apostle Paul presented the GOSPEL: “Remember Jesus Christ, raised from the dead, descended from David. This is my gospel.” Proverbs 1:7 reveals that fools despise knowledge, wisdom, and correction.
🙏Prayer: LORD Jesus, Commander of Heaven’s Armies, thank You for calling me into Your service. I am not my own. I was bought at a price… the price of Your precious life at the Cross of Calvary. Holy Spirit, embolden and strengthen me to do the work of an evangelist today. Lead me to fulfill the ministry Christ entrusted to me with joy and faithfulness. Keep me sober, enduring hardship, loving souls, and proclaiming Christ. My desire is not simply to hear, "Well done," to avoid hearing "Depart from Me," but to glorify you God in my gathering, growing, giving, and going in the power and unity of the GOSPEL! In Jesus' holy name, Amen.
