📖Scripture:
"Through him you have faith in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God." 1 Peter 1:21
🔎Examination:
In 1 Peter 1:21, Peter teaches that through Christ Jesus, we have authentic, tried, tested, persevering, and refined faith—not the superficial and obligatory belief of demons (James 2:19). This sincere faith is in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God raised Jesus from the dead and revealed His eternal glory as the eternally triumphant, victorious, and existent Son of God. Through Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), our faith and hope rest in the one true God of Holy Trinity.
The resurrection fulfills God’s promise to crush sin (Genesis 3:15) and secures our justification (Romans 4:25). Without it, our faith is futile (1 Corinthians 15:17-19). Through Christ’s victory, we are reborn into a living hope (1 Peter 1:3), called to purity and devotion to His church (1 Peter 1:22-25).
False teachings, like prosperity gospels, ignore the suffering tied to this hope. Others, like SDA (Seventh-day Adventists), claim souls sleep, contradicting our presence with Christ at death (2 Corinthians 5:8). Heresies such as universalism's hyper-grace dismiss sanctification, while consumerist faith centers on self. Progressive Christianity's "Deconstruction" erodes hope’s anchor (Hebrews 6:19), inclusivism dilutes Christ’s exclusive claim, and movements like the NAR (New Apostolic Reformation) chase the lie of present glory over future promise (Romans 8:18). The toxic and overtly violent plague of Islam rejects the divine nature, inerrancy, and sufficiency of the Bible, the eternal divinity of Christ, the Holy Trinity, the atoning power of the cross, the reality of the resurrection (Surah 3:55), and the exclusivity of Christ as the only way, truth, and life.
That's why Peter unashamedly heralds, "Through him you have faith in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God."
🤺Action:
According to the objective standard of God's WORD (the sixty-six books of Scripture), ask the LORD to test and examine whether your faith is truly in Christ’s resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:14) to determine if your hope and identity are exclusively in Him. Examine whether your hope in Christ translates into the tangible and present edification (building up) of your local church... or if it fades into private spirituality, autonomy, and nominalism. The WORD commands us to put our hope in the God of Scripture alone (Psalm 42:5).
Test yourself to see whether or not you are in the faith and whether Christ Jesus truly is in you... (2 Cor 13:5) not according to subjective feelings, but according to what is written. Does your devotion, service, surrender, and worship manifest as gathering, growing, giving, and going to glorify Christ through the church? Repent as convicted and surrender your life to Christ for His glory (Philippians 3:21) by offering your firstfruits to Christ through His Bride as your spiritual act of worship in Spirit and Truth.
🧠Reflection:
In prayer, call out to King Jesus. Ask Him to anchor your faith and hope in Him alone. Invite the Holy Spirit to expose any drift from truth, renew you in resurrection power, and sanctify your devotion to Christ’s church, where hope finds its home (Colossians 1:27).
