PROVE ME WRONG

ree

Then I saw the thrones, and those seated on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or hands. And they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. -Revelation 20:4

Not long ago, when asked during a podcast interview, “How do you want to be remembered?” Charlie Kirk replied, almost shocked by the question, “If I die!?” The interviewer clarified, “If everything just goes away… If you could be associated with just one thing, how would you want to be remembered?” Charlie then said, “I wanna be remembered for courage for my faith. That would be the most important thing. The most important thing is my faith in life.”

In retrospect, Charlie’s utter shock at the idea that his boldness and courage for his faith could cost him his life gives me chills. That moment, now, seems like a prophetic foreshadowing of his murder yesterday. Let's please stop calling it a “shooting” or “killing.” It was neither. This was a cold-blooded, premeditated murder. And if anyone is going to call it an “assassination,” let’s be clear… it wasn’t Charlie Kirk’s conservative political views that informed his faith, it was his bold, courageous, and overt faith in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the cosmos, humanity’s only hope, righteousness, and redemption, the only Way, Truth, and Life… it was THAT FAITH that informed Charlie Kirk’s political views. Therefore, if Charlie Kirk was, in fact, “assassinated,” it was ULTIMATELY because of his faith and love for Jesus Christ.

There aren’t many people I look up to, but Charlie Kirk was one of the few. Charlie’s life was irrevocably changed when the Holy Spirit of God blessed him with the gift of faith in the 5th grade. By the time he was 18 (2012), Charlie launched Turning Point USA. Since then, Charlie visited some 3,500 high school and college campuses... right up until yesterday... until 09/10/25. Charlie’s last visit was to Utah Valley University. Charlie won’t ever set foot on another campus… he will never again go home to his wife… he will never again hold his babies or watch their games or recitals... Charlie will never sit in the auditorium to watch them graduate from kinder or college… or walk his daughter down the isle... because he was murdered, martyred, for sharing and spreading authentic love, i.e., the GOSPEL TRUTH, with a lost, broken, and depraved world.

Make no mistake, this was no political assassination. Charlie Kirk was martyred for his faith in Jesus Christ, the KING of kings and LORD of lords. If we truly understand biblical martyrdom, we’ll stop imagining martyrs, like Charlie Kirk, as “super-Christians” who achieved a spiritual level that's out of reach for the rest of us. Scripture reveals the only thing extraordinary about them was/is their submission to the Holy Spirit. It is the Spirit of God who empowers ordinary redeemed saints unto extraordinary faithfulness in this dark, hostile, and depraved world. Their lives and deaths are not an aberration of Christian faith but a vivid picture of what it looks like when new birth, regeneration, and Spirit-led obedience are real and lived out.

Therefore, honoring Charlie Kirk’s life and death isn’t about a temporary Facebook profile frame change, sharing viral clips, or a passing wave of emotional sentiment; it’s about living as Charlie lived—walking daily through the Valley of the Shadow of Death with unwavering courage and loyalty to Christ, filled with the Holy Spirit, and committed -not- to some superficial religious experience or community, but to the Body and Bride of Christ… until the LORD calls us home or He returns to bring salvation to those eagerly awaiting Him.

And Moses built an altar and named it The LORD Is My Banner. “Indeed,” he said, “a hand was lifted up toward the throne of the LORD.

Charlie’s life-banner wasn’t “PROVE ME WRONG,” it was “YAHWEH NISSI,” i.e., “THE LORD IS MY BANNER” (Exodus 17:15). We all have the same opportunity, invitation, calling, and privilege that Charlie did… to honor Christ Jesus our Creator, Savior, and KING, with our redeemed lives. The difference is that many will never accept or embrace it because their “faith” is nothing more than a counterfeit, self-constructed, convenient, and comfortable consumer-minded religion. For them, Charlie Kirk's martyrdom is nothing more than a fleeting emotional vapor, and in a week or so... they'll have moved on, unfazed and unchanged, by whatever the "top story" of the day is.

But that's not you and me... for us, those with authentic faith, Charlie's redeemed life and his martyrdom, which the enemy intended for evil... we'll use it as holy fuel for the praise, glory, and honor of Christ Jesus as the WORD incarnate, the GOOD NEWS... to the ends of the earth... until we are called to our heavenly home or King Jesus returns in the glory of the Father and all the angels!
