"Seize those being led away to death; spare those stumbling toward the slaughter." -Proverbs 24:11
šReflection: The Hebrew verb "nÄį¹Äl" (translated "seize") conveys forceful and immediate actionāto snatch away, tear from danger. That's the nature of evangelism. There is no call for subtlety or strategic positioning here. Like a firefighter who understands what's on the line, Christ's saints, as commissioned ambassadors, understand the urgent need for evangelism because, as Acts 4:12 reveals, "Salvation exists in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."
Ezekiel 33:8-9 issues a terrifying reminder: if we fail to warn the wicked, their blood is on our hands. The Apostle Paul urged Timothy in 2 Timothy 4:2 to be ready "in season and out," to "reprove, rebuke, and exhort." This isnāt a call to manipulate but to lovingly confront via the power and truth of the GOSPEL. We aren't called to calculate outcomes; we need simply to trust & obey. Christās command in Acts 1:8 isnāt conditional. His Spirit empowers and compels our witness, not clever strategies. Waiting for the "right time" is often nothing more than spiritual cowardice cloaked in pious language.
š¤ŗAction: Test and examine yourself (2 Cor 13:5) by asking some tough questions:
Do I act like biblical evangelism is optional or someone elseās job?
Where have I rationalized the sin of delay and allowed it to replace simple obedience?
Am I sharing the GOSPEL of God's WORD or replacing it with social justice, random acts of kindness, or any other false gospel?
Am I acting in fear or faith?
King Jesus said in Luke 9:26, "If anyone is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels."Ā This isn't a scare tactic; it's a gracious and loving rebuke from the truth of God's WORD, because, as Romans 14:23 reveals, "...and everything that is not from faith is sin."Ā Therefore, repent of rationalization and hesitation. Step out of old patterns of the flesh and walk by faith. Share the GOOD NEWS with at least one person todayāclearly and compassionately. It's not about having all the answers; it's about being obedient as a slave of Christ. Donāt justify delay; act with URGENCY out of love, compassion, and obedience to Christās commission as a divinely appointed ambassador of His glory, grace, and Good News! King Jesus doesn't judge us based on our effectiveness, but rather our obedience. We will either hear Him say, "Well done, My good and faithful Γοῦλε (slave)!" or "I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!"
šPrayer: Father, ignite a holy urgency in my soul, not out of guilt, but obedient surrender. Teach me to trust You with ALL MY HEART rather than relying on my feeble plans and limited understanding. Please give me the courage to see others through YOUR EYES, i.e., in desperate need of the GOSPEL! If it pleases You, use me to seize those being led to death so that your Holy Spirit may spare them from the slaughter. May I never fear rejection but revere Your command as my Lord and King. Help me see the reality of the spiritual battle and engage with Spirit-empowered courage and boldness, steeled with the full Armor of God! Let me not commit the sin of Adam as an apathetic and passive bystander! Lead me in the everlasting way as a devoted slave to righteousness. I pray this in the mighty name of King Jesus, Amen.
