"Now the Spirit expressly states that in later times some will abandon the faith to follow deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons, influenced by the hypocrisy of liars, whose consciences are seared with a hot iron." 1 Timothy 4:1-2
In the shadow of Charlie Kirk's assassination on September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University, a stirring has swept across the land. Kirk, a bold voice for biblical truth and unapologetic faith in Christ Jesus, fell to an assassin's bullet during his American Comeback Tour. His death, marked today (10-14-25) on this National Day of Remembrance for what would have been his 32nd birthday, has pierced hearts and drawn multitudes toward the doors of churches.
As Scripture declares in Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die." Kirk's time here on earth ended violently, yet the Lord ordains all for His glory (Romans 8:28). Many, convicted by Kirk's bold witness, now seek the Savior he proclaimed. Praise God for this harvest! Charlie understood, lived, and died by Christ's words in John 12:24, "Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds." Yet woe unto the shepherds who scatter the flock rather than gather it (Jeremiah 23:1-2). In this hour, Satan prowls as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8), and his agents infest many pews.
Many, if not most, are not houses of prayer but dens of whoredom and satanic worship, as the prophet Ezekiel thundered against Israel's idolatrous sanctuaries (Ezekiel 16:16, 23:17). They masquerade as orthodox, draped in the trappings of historic Christianity—stone chapels, vaulted sanctuaries, even cathedrals sold off by faithful denominations decades ago (Haggai 1:4-9 warns against neglecting God's house for vain labors). But inwardly, they are "whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are full of dead men's bones, and of all uncleanness" (Matthew 23:27).
The Holy Spirit, through Jude, commands: "Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ" (Jude 3-4).
These intruders deny the Gospel not typically by outright rejection (at least not at first) but by subversion, blending it with the world's perversions. As 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 exposes, "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works."
Hear this warning, inspired by Charlie Kirk's obedient faith: Do not be ensnared! Test every spirit (1 John 4:1), examine every claim against the unchanging Word (Acts 17:11). The Bible alone is your sword (Ephesians 6:17), God's breath sufficient for salvation, sanctification, and every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Flee these synagogues of Satan (Revelation 2:9), where the imperishable seed of the Gospel (1 Peter 1:23) is trampled underfoot by "doctrines of devils" (1 Timothy 4:1).
The Hyper-Charismatic Delusion: Chasing Signs Over the Savior
The hyper-charismatic movement, a feverish pursuit of supernatural thrills, eclipses the Christ-centered Gospel with spectacle. These gatherings pulse with ceaseless "prophecies," tongues without interpretation, and "slain in the Spirit" theatrics—yet the cross is sidelined. As Paul rebuked the Corinthians: "Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant... Let all things be done unto edifying" (1 Corinthians 12:1, 14:26).
But here, edification crumbles; chaos reigns, fulfilling 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11: "Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth... And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie."
Specific Signs to Flee:
"New Apostles and Prophets" Logos and Claims: Look for symbols like crowned scepters or fiery doves emblazoned with "NAR" (New Apostolic Reformation) or phrases like "Kingdom Now" or "Dominion Mandate." These usurp Christ's finished work (Hebrews 1:1-2: "God... hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son"), peddling modern "apostles" who decree earthly rule, mocking Jesus' words: "My kingdom is not of this world" (John 18:36).
Imagery of "Glory Clouds" or "Angel Feathers": Videos and banners depict shimmering mists or floating plumes as "Holy Spirit manifestations." This is no dove of Pentecost (Acts 2:2-4) but fabrication, as Deuteronomy 18:10-12 condemns divination and enchantments.
Slogans like "Sozo" or "Fire Anointing": Chanted in services, these Greek-twisted terms (from Luke 1:47, meaning salvation in Christ alone) are hijacked for "inner healing" sessions that prioritize emotional highs over repentance. Paul warns: "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass" (1 Corinthians 13:1).
Leaders in "Mantles" with Rainbow Accents: Vestments mimicking apostolic robes, now striped with pride flags, proclaim "inclusion anointing." Flee, for Galatians 1:8 curses any "other gospel," and Isaiah 5:20 woes those calling evil good.
These are not gifts but grave errors, leading souls to trust experiences over the empty tomb's testimony (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
The Social Justice Heresy: Filthy Rags Masquerading as Righteousness
Worse still, the cultural Marxist "social justice" infiltration weaves secular agendas into sermons, supplanting the Gospel with equity idols. Here, LGBTQ+ affirmation, BLM anthems, and "decolonizing faith" supplant sin's diagnosis and Christ's atonement. As Isaiah 64:6 indicts: "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away." These movements erect Babel towers of human goodness (Genesis 11:4), ignoring Romans 3:23: "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Jesus condemned the Pharisees for tithing mint while omitting justice, mercy, and faith (Matthew 23:23)—but true justice flows from the cross, not cultural revolution. These dens ridicule the Gospel's exclusivity (Acts 4:12: "Neither is there salvation in any other"), preaching "love is love" as license for perversion, echoing the serpent's lie: "Ye shall not surely die" (Genesis 3:4).
Specific Signs to Flee:
BLM Fist or "Justice Journey" Banners: Black Lives Matter logos fused with crosses, or slogans like "Repent of White Jesus" or "Dismantle Patriarchy." These invert Micah 6:8's "do justly" into Marxist redistribution, scorning Ephesians 2:8-9's grace alone. As Proverbs 14:12 warns: "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."
Pride Flags in Sanctuary Windows or "Queerly Beloved" Bulletins: Rainbow stoles on pulpits, or terms like "Affirming Church" and "Two-Spirit Liturgy." This blasphemes Genesis 1:27's male-female image and Romans 1:26-27's "vile affections," calling sodomy "blessed union." Flee to 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, where such are washed by Christ's blood alone.
"Woke Worship" Imagery: Murals of fists raised in "solidarity" with George Floyd icons, or "Latinx Eucharist" with indigenous symbols overwriting the Lord's Supper. These profane 1 Corinthians 11:23-26's remembrance of Christ's body given and blood poured out for depraved sinners, not social systems.
Slogans like "Gospel of Inclusion" or "Liberation Theology": Echoing James Cone's heresy, these claim Jesus as "revolutionary" against "oppressors," undermining His eternal and divine lordship. Galatians 5:1 commands: "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."
The Telltale Omission: No Gospel, No Christ
The ultimate betrayal? Silence on the Gospel. No proclamation of man's depravity (Jeremiah 17:9: "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked"), no Savior crucified for transgressors (Isaiah 53:5-6), no call to repentance and faith (Mark 1:15). Instead, blasphemy: Sermons mocking hell as "toxic fearmongering" or the virgin birth as "mythic patriarchy." As Hebrews 10:29 warns of those trampling Christ's blood: "How much more severely do you think one deserves to be punished who has trampled on the Son of God, profaned the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and insulted the Spirit of grace?"
These are the "scandalon" of rebellion (Matthew 18:7), Satan's light-masked lies (2 Corinthians 11:14). Charlie Kirk knew this battle; he contended for the faith, not scattering but gathering with Christ to the glory of God the Father (Matthew 12:30).
The True Gathering: Marks of a Faithful Church
Flee to assemblies where Christ is central. As Hebrews 10:24-25 urges: "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together." Seek churches embodying:
Gathering in and with the Word: Like the noble-minded Bereans of Acts 17:11, be sure the messages preached and teachings are faithful to the Apostles' teachings (Acts 2:42) and an orthodox, historical, biblical theology, not topical fluff (2 Timothy 4:2). Here are a couple of great book recommendations to help you navigate Scripture: 1) What is Biblical Theology? 2) How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth 3) Nine Marks of A Healthy Church
Growing in Obedient Faith: Discipleship demands submission, devotion, and contribution... not consumerism (Ephesians 4:11-16). Here's are a couple of great books: 1) I Am A Church Member 2) The Ten Commandments of Progressive Christianity
Giving Wholly: Lives poured out as living sacrifices (Romans 12:1), not performative virtue.
Going as Witnesses: Bold living proclamation of the Gospel, as Acts 1:8 commands.
Test: Does the church leadership openly and overtly preach sin's curse, Christ's substitutionary death, and resurrection victory? If not, run far and fast!
A Call to the Cross: Your Exclusive Remedy
Brothers and sisters, do not trade Charlie's legacy for cheap counterfeits. The Gospel is God's power unto salvation (Rom 1:16)—Christ, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the cosmos (Rev 13:8), in crushing the serpent (Gen 3:15). Examine yourselves (2 Corinthians 13:5): Is He truly dwelling within you? Repent, believe, and join the true Bride, eagerly awaiting His return (Heb 9:28; Titus 2:13).
As Charlie echoed Paul's charge (Philippians 1:27): "Nevertheless, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ... contending together as one for the faith of the gospel," To God alone be glory!
